When it comes to menswear, Fred Astaire was one of the greats. Oh sure, high-waisted white pants with suspenders aren't coming in again anytime soon, unless we're very much mistaken. But in his day, Fred navigated the treacherous waters of 30's and 40's fashion with more than just ease - he took it to a new level. Accessories were his specialty. Swanky argyle socks beneath impeccably cuffed trousers were a must, especially when jitterbugging with gorgeous starlets. No belt? A striped silk tie is the perfect substitute. Kinda makes you rethink the whole belt thing, as a matter of fact. Not to mention that putting the tie through your belt loops leaves your collar comfortably open, so why not roll those sleeves up a little bit, too?
