Imagine having to go to the office in the same dull getup every single day. Same dark suits, same dark pair of pants, same crisp white shirt, same black or brown socks, same black or brown shoes. Hmmm... really, truly boring, right?
For ladies, this is not as big a problem, because there are many avenues for them to spice up their work attire. They can fix their hair in different manners - put it up in a bun, curl it, iron-straight it, braid it, the works! They can eve use different hair accessories - head bands, hair clips, ribbons, bows, a whole lot! They can also vary their makeup from day to day. Smoky, natural, sophisticated, elegant, there are just so many to choose from. Then comes the wardrobe itself. Gone are the days when corporate attires are limited to black, blue, brown, cream or gray. There are so many corporate colors to choose from, all of which are acceptable and in fact considered power suits - pink, red, purple, orange, yellow. As long as a lady executive can carry the suit well, she will not be frowned upon.
Should I even start about shoes and bags? Or should I just let you list the limitless possibilities ladies have when it comes to accessorizing their attires? I think the latter, right? Just remember that there is a big industry surviving on bags and shoes alone and you will appreciate the possibilities when it comes to ladies bags and shoes.
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for some), men do not have this much choices and opportunities to vary their day to day business attire. They can change the color of their suits, but perhaps it will be sometime before men wearing orange suits to work will be called the norm. Or a spiked-up do will be considered of taste. So that leaves the men with very little choices in accessorizing: watch, cufflinks, neckties. Unlike watches and cufflinks, neckties are more prominently displayed, and therefore attracts more attention (and sometimes criticisms) from from people. So for men, better choose your neckties with care. Remember that people will always try to draw conclusions from what you are wearing so do not wear rock-n-roll inspired neckties if you are not into hard rock.
If you are not so adventurous with neckties, and you are not yet ready to wear some Disney characters on your neck, you can go for neckties with classic solid colors or striped neckties. Choose those that complement your eyes so that it will make your face come more alive. If you have blue eyes, there are many neckties to choose from. Blue doesn't have to be the dominant color of your ties, but it should be prominent enough to stand out. For example, you can choose a cream necktie with blue stripes, or a silver necktie with blue stripes. Or you can contrast it with your suit to break a rather monotonous attire. Either way, neckties are easiest things to vary so don't be afraid to experiment on what works best for you.
