Whether you have a job interview, a big meeting at work, or just want to impress the office you can never go wrong with some clever office tips. Most of your wardrobe is dependent on the dress code at your office. These days it can vary from formal to casual. In any event, you need to look crisp and polished.
Naturally, all of your attire must be pressed, and your shoes must be clean. If your office does not require you to wear a suit it still is good idea to own at least two. This way you are prepared for that special office event, or an evening out. Stick with the classic single-breasted two button styles. In addition, you can easily match shirts and ties to black and gray suits.
Blazers are a good addition to any man's wardrobe. On days you do not wear a suit you can easily mix and match pants for an elegant outfit. They are also great for Casual Fridays. Slip on a pair of Dockers, a patterned shirt, and your sports jacket and you have a complete business casual outfit. Neutral colors are always best for the office.
Having an array of dress and casual pants is essential. You can use these pants to mix and match with your sports jackets. A good tip is to have at least two pairs of dark or charcoal colored pants with a couple of pairs of khakis. Even if you own a few suits the extra pants will come in handy.
Equally important are shirts. You cannot go wrong by owning several white and light blue dress shirts. Subdued pinstripe shirts are good too. Of course, you can add a couple of sports shirts too for those casual occasions, just stick with neutral colors. Anything too loud is not acceptable business attire.
During the cooler seasons sweaters are a good addition to any man's wardrobe. Sweater vests are light enough to be worn under a suit. You will stay warm and still look professional. In a casual environment you can go with long pullover sweaters. Again, stay with neutral colors. Solids are a better choice than prints.
To summarize, every man should own at least two suits. Adding a sports jacket or two is a good idea. Having a couple of white and light blue dress shirts at your disposal makes for easy mix and matching, In addition, two pairs of dark dress pants and a couple of khakis round out a nice starter wardrobe. Remember; always go with neutral colors for business environments.
