Do men now make more effort than women to be smartly attired?
I think most definitely yes. A couple of examples:
Yesterday I was at a funeral dressed in a black suit, white shirt and tie like most of the men. The amount of women that turned up in black trousers and a black top/t-shirt/jumper/jacket was astounding. Some were not even as smart as that! My point is hardly any women made the effort to wear a suit, a skirt, or even a blouse/shirt.
It has been the same at all my recent workplaces also. Many women will wear trousers and a casual top or t-shirt to the office. Is that really business dress? I don't think so and it stands out that women are now not making as much effort as men.
I am spending time to starch and iron my shirts, getting up early to shave and taking time to knot my necktie while some women at work clearly just jump out of bed, throw on their trousers (or jeans) and t-shirt before heading to work.
Not me. I take pride in my appearance and I'm always smart for work. Jeans and t-shirts are for the weekend.
