USA hockey Has Made Mens Hockey Less Physical Then womens hockey?
Is it just me? Or Do the new USA Hockey Rules for High school limit the game to much? For God sakes, I thought I was playing hockey, not free skating. I had a Ref last game that would call Interference For lifting a guys stick if he was getting a pass. Or he called Interference on Our Center For Tying up his mas at the face off? Where these ref's simply taking the rules to far? Where they on a power trip? OR Did we change the rules so that Mens Hockey is officaly less Physical then womens? Cause I've seen women play, and the lift sticks all the time, to steal the puck. I dont get it. Why cant they Just let us play Hockey? I remember a few years ago, man, that was a fun time. Huge hits everywhere, amazing goals, hell I even enjoyed a good fight every now and then. Now its like a crime to get A penilty. Anyways, just want to know peoples thoughts, and see if the ruled really have gotten that gay.
Sounds like the official made at least one bad call. Lifting the stick is 100% legal and should absolutely not be called. The ref may have made the correct call on the center for tying up his man, I would need more details to give a legitimate answer.
I don't see how either of the two examples you used did anything to make the game less physical though. The new standard adopted by the NHL and USA Hockey, when applied properly, promotes the big hit rather than discourage it. Players now have the ability to fore check almost unimpeeded and a chance to drive the net without having 2 or 3 players draped over them. The whole mindset of "letting them play" is finished, probably forever.
