In this article I will list a few of these knots and what they are used for. Take a look and if you don't know how to tie any of these fishing knots, learn them sooner rather than later. Knowing the proper way of attachment in what situation will make you a much more successful angler.
Below you will find three fishing knots that you need to know how to tie if you want to be a successful angler. There is little doubt that these three are among the most important knots for fishing.
- The Improved Clinch - This fishing knot is very easy to tie and is also incredibly versatile. It is a very popular and reliable terminal tackle knot. This fishing knot is perfect for tying terminal tackle such as fishing hooks and swivels onto the end of your fishing line. A great tip is to lubricate the knot by putting it into your mouth before tightening it, for some reason this makes the knot much stronger.
- The Palomar - When it comes to fishing knots this knot is a good knot for both braided and monofilament line, but is especially good for line of the braided variety. Braided lines can be difficult to tie fishing knots in, and the Palomar knot is the answer. If you fish with braided line of any kind this may become your "go to" fishing knot. Bass fishermen absolutely love this simple fishing knot.
- The Blood - This knot is perfect for tying two pieces of fishing line together. This knot works best when the lines are of similar diameter. If you are looking to tie a leader to fly line, you are looking for a nail knot. For tying two equal (or very similar) pieces of fishing line together, the blood knot is the way to go. This easy to learn knot comes in handy on the water all of the time.
The bottom line is that if you learn these three ways of attaching tackle and line you will have many of the bases covered when it comes to tying knots while fishing. Are these the only methods that you need to learn? Probably not, but you will be much better off by knowing them. Add them to your fishing repertoire as soon as you get the chance. Knowing these simple fishing knots will save you a ton of time on the water.
