Striped Silk Tie
For those of you who are not fashion daredevils- breaking the fashion rule and creating your own sense, then coordination is the key to the suit-tie combo. Here's a few pointers to take heed when pairing up your suit and impressing the crowd.
Let's start with the plain white shirt. The basic white shirt and black pants might strike as being plain and boring or can get you confused as the waiter at the dinner party. That would be embarrassing to you and hilarious for those around you. While you've managed to become the life of the party, I'm sure that's now how you planned it to happen. Pairing up your white shirt with a colored tie won't go wrong anytime as any colored ties go with a plain white shirt. So when you are in doubt, go white.
So what about solid colored shirts? Solid colors such as pale blue, pale yellow and the rest of the color palette need more attention. The color of your tie can match you're the color of your shirt- no problem with that. This is in case you run out of ideas or run out of ties.
Okay so you don't want to match- then coordinate perhaps? Coordinating isn't rocket science. It's all about matching one color with the other-and these two colors have to go together not clash. For example a pale blue shirt goes well with a red or gold tie while a pale tan shirt goes well with a yellow or burgundy tie.
When it is a striped shirt, look for the color that stands out most in the stripes. When you've identified this color, match it with a coordinating necktie color. Its not much of a challenge really when it comes to striped shirts.
When matching your tie with your shirt, the simple rule to abide to is complementing and not completing. What you wear shouldn't look like a blind school teacher picked out for you and shouldn't look like a complicated mess of stripes, color and patterns especially mens ties.
