- Wrap the wide end around the thin end twice, a few inches below your neck. The wide end should go over the thin end at first.
- After wrapping the wide end around the second time, push it through the back of the V-shape made by the partially formed knot.
- Tuck the wide end through the front loop of the knot.
- Gently pull down on both the thin and wide ends below the knot until the knot is tight.
- Hold the thin end and slide the knot up to your neck.
- If the thin end hangs below the wide end, untie the tie and begin again, with the wide end hanging lower than it did the first time.
- If the tie seems to be hanging a bit to low for your liking, simply start over with the larger end up closer to your neck
- Pull your collar back down and visually inspect the your collar covers your tie all the way around your neck.
Tips:
- When untying it, try to be careful when removing it as to not wrinkle or mess up the shape.
- A great way to remember the length you need or to note which button on your shirt to place the narrow end of the tie with you start the process. This way the next time you wear it, just match the bottom with the button on your shirt and you are ready to go. No more guessing if the length will be right.
- Always keep you ties hanging on a tie rack when not in use. This will keep them from wrinkling and extend the life of them as you don't have to iron them as frequently
