What's the PC term for slim, skinny, scrawny, etc.?

I'm seriously obese. I referred to my "very narrow" friend as skinny or scrawny (don't remember which) and she called me out on it. So what are the right and the wrong words for someone who is lean?
Yes, "fit" is a good word. But we are talking about less meat on the bones than what looks fit. I think of noticeable muscle tissue with "fit." Slim seems best, but why?

Scrawny is not polite, and skinny is not much better. Slim, thin and lean are inoffensive terms to most people. So is petite, if she's not tall. Slight and slender are good, and if you're feeling poetic, sylph-like.

Would you rather she called you seriously fat or very voluptuous?

As far as I can figure, Politically Correct = inoffensive or polite. Something said in jest that hurts or causes offense is now called a PC problem instead of a problem of manners, and tends to be minimized and dismissed, but whatever you call it, giving offense is avoidable.

It's hard to credit how long and thin humans are when they're not carrying extra weight. They don't have to be muscley to be fit. And as for why, it can be uncomfortable to have your appearance judged and defined in negative terms by people you care about.
