Lump at back of neck right hand side of the spine near hairline?
Today, I have noticed a Hard lump under the skin, at the back of the neck, on the right hand side of the spine, just at the hairline. When I move my head left to right, I do not feel anything, if I brush my fingers over it, I feel it. If I touch it directly, It is tender to the touch. Could this be just an infection? Is this an area of a lymph gland? The lump does not move. Just wanted your views out there. I realise everyone is different, I am ringing Doctors first thing to get it checked. Both my parents died of cancer June 2007 7 days apart, and Im almost obsessive about this the medical books are out, my eyes dry with staring at the pc screen. I have a lump on the back of my neck , which is bigger than you describe . Mine has been diagnosed as a Lipoma which is a fatty lump , and totally benign . I was in a car accident many years ago where I sustained a whiplash injury , apparently that caused the abnormal growth . However it has not got any bigger in the last 15 years , and the doctors won't operate unless I worry about it, and are loathe to do so as there are a lot of nerves in that area. Mine aches at times and is a real pain in the neck . But I think I will put up with it. If I was you I would get it checked , hopefully it is a cyst , or even a Lipoma like mine . Not to worry .
