I have this dark navy suite, I was wondering which is gonna be more dashing; wearing a tuxedo style with a bow tie, or just putting a regular necktie ?

A good bow tie with a dark suit can be smashing indeed. It should be a patterned bow tie, of course, as the solid bow tie with a dark suit tends to suggest an imitation tuxedo. Fortunately, I can tell you're above average sartorially--I don't have to tell you how gauche the pre-tied bow tie is.
When I set out into the world of bow ties, a man gave me three pieces of advice:
1)The bow tie should be no more than 2 1/2 inches in width.
2)The ends of the bow tie should not extend past the cheekbones, so as not to give a clownish effect.
3)Begin with the Winston Churchill navy blue/white dots, and branch out, carefully.
