Why do men wear ties?
I was forced to wear a tie today and I realized that I don't see the purpose. Very unconformable, gets in the way, and personally I think I love more attractive/handsome when dressing up without a necktie. I'm just curious the reason behind it.

Nowadays it's used to represent a more formal and professional image - personally I prefer a bow tie - it still presents a professional look but it doesn't get in the way or dip in your soup etc. and I don't find it uncomfortable - perhaps your shirt collar was too tight and that's what caused you discomfort?
