Well the answer is that some do and some don't.
To be honest most black women would prefer to be with a black man. Along with visions of the perfect wedding and the American dream, black girls grow up wishing to have "black love." The image of black love is strong, solid and powerful. If you go to the profile of a black woman on any dating site, it will be no surprise if she specifies that she wants a BLACK man. Which, in other words, means that if you are not black then she is not interested in communicating.
Although many black women do have this preference, many are open to different races. Even many of the ones who have proclaimed all their lives that they only like black men, will change their tune if they connect on some level with a man of another race. This fact goes for anyone. Some people could never see themselves dating or marrying someone of a different race, but all of their preconceived thoughts about that disappear when they meet someone they connect with (who happens to be of a different race).
If you are a white man who likes your ice cream chocolate, then do not let your skin colors prevent you from trying to get to know her. How do you know if she is open if you do not try to talk to her? She likely will not approach you at all so you have to be the one to make the first move. Of course, she may give you the cold shoulder, but that could happen with any woman. Just be yourself and know that African American women are not automatically uninterested because you are white and she's black.
