Gerbera Jamesonii is known as a flower for all seasons and is associated with purity and strength as well as being a statement of happiness. Gerbera Daisies can be divided into four groups:
Single Flowers - have a row of non-overlapping petals with a green center, these are the most common.
Double Flowers - have a double row of overlapping petals with a dark red, green or black eye.
Crested Doubles - have not one but two rows of overlapping petals with one or more inner row of shorter petals with a dark red, green or black eye.
Full Crested Doubles - have solid overlapping rows of petals with an ever diminishing inner row which cover the eye completely.
Lovely though their shapes are, it is the stunning colors of the gerbera, ranging from vibrant purples, reds, pinks, oranges, yellows, creams and white (but not blue) that makes this plant so very special.
Their versatility allows for use in many types of arrangement:
For Christmas, deep red and scarlet gerberas combine beautifully with pine cones and seasonal ornaments.
In Spring, salmon and pink gerberas, even just a single bloom in a vase, can brighten a room.
Shaded red is always popular for Valentines Day.
While brilliant colors like yellow and orange are greatly in demand for Summer.
Leaving the beautiful shades of deep orange, pale yellows, creams and white for Fall.
Not only does the gerbera have a meaning of purity and strength but their many colors tell their own stories:
White - means honesty and innocence.
Yellow - reveals the desire to impress.
