Blue Woven Tie
how do i make a woven bracelet with my name in it?
my best guy friend went to mexico and brought me back a woven bracelet from there. it was solid blue with black strings to tie it around my wrist and my name in it also in black. i lost it and want to make me another one. it had a piece of plastic in it were the blue was woven around and my name in it it i guess keep it sturdy and keep shape. can any one help me please because it was very important to me!!! thank you
I can tell you they are not that easy to make, but that doesn't mean you should not try. Hopefully my description will give you an idea and not confuse you too much.
You take a bunch of black strings, depending on how thick you want your bracelet, a couple inches longer than the length of your wrist
You take two VERY long blue strings, I'd say about 4-5 the length of your wrist
You lay them all flat, with the 2 blue ones first, and you tie them all together to make a loop at the end, this is where you will eventually tie the bracelet together.
This is where it might tricky, you take the first blue string and lay it on top of the second blue string, then under the string, and then through the space made two strings, and this should make a knot.
You slide the know all the way up, and you repeat the process, using the first blue string, with all the white ones.
Then you repeat the process with the second blue string.
Then you bring that first blue string back to the beginning, and do it all again.
Now, the way you get your name in there, is instead of making a knot with the blue string, you make a knot with the black one. This will bring out the contrast color, instead of the base color.
You repeat the same process until you get your name in there.
Like I said, it's not an easy project, so I suggest you practice making a few simple bracelets before you attempt to make one with your name on it.
