Does "black tie" mean men have to wear an actual "black" tie?
My husband and I are attending a black tie awards ceremony. I know what I am suppose to wear and that the male should wear a tuxedo. However black and white is so boring. I am wearing a champagne dress and thought it would look nice if my husband wore a black tux with a champagne under vest or tie to compliment my dress. When I looked online under "black tie" tuxedos there were many pictures with various colored ties and vests with black tuxedos. However I don't want my husband to stand out, if everyone is strictly black and white. When I asked someone about this, they laughed and said it was somewhat "promy". Any advice/opinions would be helpful ( especially if you attended an awards ceremony and saw what people were wearing)
black tie just means very formal, very dressy, usually tux for them men. but you can where whatever tie color you want. they only time you truly need to wear a black, white or silver tie is if the event is like a black and white ball. We have one of those here in san francisco every year and you must wear only black or white.
