Auto White Balance on D300? White Balance?
I just started using the D300. Everything is great except the white balance. The auto WB is never accurate, and I don't know how to go about setting the Kelvin degrees. Does anyone know any good techniques how to get 100% accurate WB on a D300? Or maybe a chart that will help me set the WB my self? Also, I would like to know how to set a white balance from a photo but I can't find it in the manual.
I dont have a D300, but I have a D80.
First, you set the white balance to "pre" which stands for preset (Use the "WB" button and rotate the main dial). Now, press teh WB button again and hold it for 2 seconds. You should see a "PRE" flashing in the viewfinder and top display screen. Now, using a neutral gray or white sheet of paper, place it under the light you are shooting in, zoom in so that the paper completely fills the viewfinder, and take a shot. If successful, the viewfinder will have "good" blinking. If not, it will have "no gd".
Usually, I just use the presets that came with the camera (shade, sunny, cloudy, etc) and go from there. Besides, white balance and colour is easily corrected in most photo editing softwares.
