Why are some people so clueless about SO simple math?
I am talking about people who doesn't know how multiple percent off coupons/discounts work. One girl on youtube thought that the 50% off discount she already got plus an additional 20% off actually equals to 70% off when it does not. I explained to her an example (simple right?)-->
MRSP: $100,
Clearance 50% off discount: $50
Additional 20% off:$40 (because 1/5 of $50 is $10..hehe)...so, 50% + 20% off will not equal 70% off!
***however, 50% + 20% doesn't always add up to 60%
It's just like a 1/2 off then another 1/2 off--> will never mean it's zero people!--what's the point of selling them?

HAHA, I totally laughed at her vid when she said she got the item for 70% off.
There is often a difference (misunderstanding) between points of view and rigorous logic should be applied to math as well as speech. If I wanted to let you have 50% off because you were first in line and another 50% off because you were a relative my intent could be to let you have an item for free. If I wanted you to have 50% off for one reason and another 50% off of that for another reason the item would not be free. Usually contract language must be as clear as the math to avoid misrepresentation. A used car dealer in Boston long ago advertised on the radio a used car for only 1000 bananas (meaning dollars). When a lady showed up with 1000 bananas the dealer at first refused the deal (adverse publicity) but turned it around selling the car for 1000 bananas and donating them to several orphanages (good publicity). Disputes of contract language likely would be determined by a jury based on what prudent men and women determine the wording means in context. Math is far more logical.
