Does green tea really help Lose Weight? Learn

There's been much in the news recently about green tea and weight loss.
Green tea is less processed and therefore provides the most antioxidant polyphenols, in particular a catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which is believed to be responsible for most of the health benefits linked to green tea.

– But just how green tea helps you lose weight? – And does it really work or is it hype?

This article provides information about drinking green tea for weight loss.

Green tea 1) increases your metabolism

In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a metabolism 'boost'). The researchers also concluded that that over a 24 hour period, green tea extract increases the metabolic rate 4%. These effects are probably due to high concentrations of polyphenols in green tea. These work to help intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis (the rate at which Your Body burns calories).

2) Green tea inhibits fat absorption and helps to regulate glucose

The experts tell us that catechus in green tea may inhibit the movement of glucose in fat cells. Green tea can also act as a regulator of glucose. Help stop the increase in Blood Sugar after a meal. This prevents high insulin spikes (lots of insulin promotes fat storage) and the subsequent fat storage.

3) Promotes Fat Loss

Green tea not only promotes fat loss, but specifically, the loss of visceral fat-fat that accumulates in the tissues lining the abdominal cavity and surrounding the intestines (viscera) and internal organs. Unlike fat deposits on hips and thighs (which result in the "pear" body shape), visceral fat (which produces the "apple" body shape) is highly associated with increased risk of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.

Green tea contains three major components that promote fat loss: catechins, caffeine and theanine. Studies suggest that green tea compounds promote fat loss by gastric and pancreatic lipase, both inhibition of enzymes that digest triglycerides, and fatty acid synthase, the enzyme responsible for synthesis of fatty acids in the way that can be stored in adipose tissue (body fat) cells.

So there are ways that green tea can help lose weight … But how much
we really need to take to achieve these impressive increase the metabolism of the effects?
Experts vary, but The general consensus seems to be that 3 to 5 cups of green tea per day is optimal. Doing this can help burn an extra 70 calories per day which amounts to 7 pounds per year. Pretty good for not exercising or cutting calories, right?
However, 3 to 5 cups may be much for some people, so you might want to consider possibility of green tea extract, green tea pills or a patch of green tea.

Since atherosclerotic plaques develop when cholesterol circulating in the bloodstream is damaged or oxidized, the ability green tea to prevent these oxidation reactions may explain some of its protective effects against cardiovascular disease.

1. The green tea is not a magic wand

While some people will tell you that green tea is the be-all-the end of everything success for weight loss, I think the key word here is balance. Not going to eat 5000 calories a day, drink a cup of green tea and make everyone van – just not going to happen. A healthy diet and increased exercise will go a long way to help lose weight and stay.

2. Be careful of caffeine, if you have health problems

For some people with heart problems, high Blood Pressure or stimulant sensitivities, caffeine in green tea may not be the best idea. If you're worried about the caffeine in green tea, try taking green tea extract. Most Green tea extract is made from decaffeinated green tea so you can still reap the benefits of weight loss without caffeine.
If you think that caffeine can be a problem, be sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea for weight loss. Also, be sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea if you are pregnant or nursing.

Bottom Line: Green tea helps you lose weight by increasing metabolic rate, regulates the level of blood sugar, suppressing your appetite and give something else besides that high calorie, high sugar coffee beverage to drink in the morning.
Although not a magic bullet, which definitely can give you a boost in weight loss and overall health!

3. Limit Green Tea Consumption during the first trimester of pregnancy
Women are advised to take folic acid supplements when it comes to conceiving and during the first trimester (the first 3 months) pregnancy as it is during this period of time the baby's neural tube is developing. Folic acid helps ensure normal development and protects against spina bifida, allowing production of the enzyme DHFR. While one or two cups of green tea can not be a problem, drinking large amounts of green tea can decrease DHFR activity, increased risk of neural tube defects.
